Rangers Win! Let’s celebrate with Casino Night!
Rangers WIN! Rangers WIN! Rangers WIN!
What a great night for the Rangers! First win of the year came in a battle against the Normans of Beverly Hills. The first play from scrimmage for the Rangers was an interception that the Normans took to the house for a touchdown. We could have laid down and quit…but we didn’t! Instead we got the ensuing kick off and drove it 70 yards and ate up 7 minutes to score and make the game 7-6 Rangers. The score remained that until the end of the first half. After a timely halftime speech we hit the field and didn’t look back. the Rangers ripped off four touchdowns including a blocked punt by Ethane sunder and recovered by Anthoney Rodriguez for a touchdown.
I couldn’t be more happier with the way we responded, we talk about our character and our will to play four quarters. We did that, Parker Johnsen had one of those games that wasn’t going his way in the first half going 2-5 for 25 yards and 3 interceptions. Normally you don’t win football games with three interceptions but our Defense kept us in the game only allowing the Normans a few first downs. Johnsen came out in the second half and accepted the challenge. Johnsen threw for 132 yards, 2 passing TD’s and 1 Rushing TD, longest pass was 52 yards and 3 INT. Jake Perry was a machine running the ball 29 time for 128 yards and 1 TD. Our Players of the game were Devon Page, Jake Perry, Ethane Sunder, and Anthoney Rodriguez.

September 2nd Game 2
Although we fell short of our opening night goal I felt we had a lot of good things come from the game. We started the game with two starters out with bad illnesses and two others with bad injuries. We suited 21 players Friday night! That did not detour your RANGERS from this fight!
First and foremost our team leader and captain Scott Barron summed it up after the game, “we played for each other boys, that was a awesome game, we played as a family and that’s what it’s going to take, Family”. I couldn’t be more proud of Scott for not only saying it, but it meant something about the effort that was given on the field. Also want to thank the fans that supported us, thank you!
This year will define our program in two ways, first we will RESPECT our program and that has already been shown. Secondly we will play with PRIDE, so far that has also been proven to. A big shout out to Brendon Looker for tying the school record for receptions check it HERE! Also our Players of the Game Parker Johnsen, Nick Cansler, Ethane Sunder, and Brendon Looker. (Click on their names to check out their stats)
This week we face Beverly Hill High School, a prototypical Wing-T team. We’re looking to run the ball, and refine the mistakes we made last week. With some small tweaks I think we can get on track with the run game. Game time is 4 and 7 PM at Beverly Hills High School 241 Moreno Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90212
WE look forward to seeing you there!

August 26th Opening Day!!!! Game 1 vs Hueneme
Last Friday’s scrimmage at Brentwood went pretty well. The Junior Varsity started the afternoon off with great runs by Freshman’s Korey Stevens and William Wiggins. Quarterback Brook Meier had some great passes to Nathan Rhodes and Joey Canchola for big yards. Defensively Nick Stringer, Bryan Ferreira, Daniel McGrew and Chandler Pullen were making life difficult for the Eagles of Brentwood. Overall I was very pleased with how our boys played.
Varsity had two games, the first with Santa Clarita Christian and the second game with Brentwood. The varsity team has been plagued with not only low numbers but illness as well. I was also hoping to come out of the scrimmage unscathed but that didn’t happen either. We had some great runs from Senior Scott Barron, Junior Ethane Sunder and Sophomore Bubs Rogers. Our only touchdown cam against SCCHS on a short pass to Senior Devon Page from Jared Skaggs. Defensively we looked good, swarming to the ball, fighting for every tackle. At the end of the day we tied 7-7 with SCCHS and lost 0-14 to BHS.
We will learn from our mistakes and be a better team for it. It IS GOING to literally be the next man up. Coming into week one is going to be tough, two players out with serious illness and two banged up from last week. ALL of them starters…
We play the Hueneme Vikings Friday at 7:00pm! The Vikings have some size and some talent, we are looking forward to the challenge of trying to stay fresh with a handful of players. RANGER PRIDE will be in full force! WE are going to NEED you to BE AS LOUD as you can Friday night! Come out a support us! See you there!
